Foundations Training

Many counties within the state of Oregon offer a series of weekly 3-8 hour classes to fulfill the requirement for Foundations training in the State of Oregon.  Where there is public information available for a county, we have collected it into a page accessible from the county map or one of the county links below.  You should call one of the county contact numbers on those pages for further information about orientation and start dates. Christian Family Adoptions has scheduled weekend adoption "Foundations Training" (including foster parent training and special needs)

Online Training

NOTE: The fundamental training for foster care or adoption (called Foundations Training in Oregon, often MAPP or PRIDE elsewhere) must be taken in-person to become a certified foster parent. If you are already a foster parent, or just interested, you can use the alternative online courses (offered below) to meet the continuing education requirements of foster care. Please check with DHS (in your area) for mandatory requirements.

Foster Parent College (FPC) offers affordable research-based training for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents.  Using the World Wide Web, this self-driven online foster parent training is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Foster Family Care Network holds orientation and training for becoming an Oregon therapeutic foster care provider. It connects potential therapeutic foster care providers to specialized foster care programs. Each program is tailored to meet the specific needs of children in therapeutic foster care and we are looking for care providers who are ready for a challenge. Programs serve children suffering from histories of abuse and neglect; emotional, physical needs; and youth who are dealing with drug and alcohol issues. These programs serve kids from preschool and school age to adolescent ages 11-17.
