Mentor Volunteer

We need mentors for youth in foster care. Help us make a difference in a child's life!

Here is a request from a 16 year-old boy: a male mentor, who can be supportive, give good advice, good at sports, a good listener, and someone to talk to. Can you be his mentor?

Do you have a little extra time to give? He needs you to encourage him to make good decisions!

This is what this 16 year-old boy likes: reading, drawing, skateboarding, riding/working on bikes, and clothes shopping. He is open minded, flexible, caring, considerate, kind, good with animals, generous with elderly people. He also enjoys golf, baseball, hanging out and movies. His favorite treat is a homemade blizzard.

You can make a huge difference in a young man's life, let's work together to help these children. Click below for more information on how to become a mentor.

 Training/Support Group

Mark your calendar for a powerful training series presented by LCC Instructor and Licensed Forensic Psychologist Ruth Bicksel, who is offering two training sessions that will support our efforts to locate family members of the children we serve in our Family Finding program.

Discover new investigation skills. Find important connections for children in foster care using Facebook and Myspace. Learn about other sites that can help you find contact information for your family finding cases.

This is a two week series, June 16 and June 23, from 9am to 1pm (at our new 880 Beltline location). For more information and/or to save your space, email Helen at

helen@afamilyforeverychild.org

Venue Volunteers Needed!

Do you have 1-3 hours a month to be a Heart Gallery Venue Volunteer? We currently have a need for volunteers in the following areas: Eugene, Creswell, Pleasant Hill, Cottage Grove, Springield (all Oregon locations).

Duties would consist of picking up a photo packet from our Gateway Office during the first week of each month, visiting 1-3 venues, refreshing the image and bio frames and delivering the old images back to the Gateway Office.

Mentors

 Needed

AFFEC is looking for male role models willing to guide, direct or teach a young boy from the foster care system.  We need help finding mentors, especially men, who are willing to make a difference in a child's life.  Currently, we have several young boys that are in need of a mentor (role model, friend).

Our mentoring program plays an integral part in the lives of the foster children we serve. The mentor is a consistent companion to a child experiencing many ups and downs in his or her life. It is our hope that we may support all of the children we serve by providing them with a friend they can rely on and look forward to spending quality time with.

Do you have just 10 hours a month to give to a child in need? We need you to make a difference. Together we can change one life at a time.
