The Glenn Family Profile

We would like to adopt 1-3 children up to age 10. However, our age preference is not set in stone. We are open to any race. The church we attend has families made of all different races. We can handle a child with sensory issues, ADHD, learning disabilities, and some mild medical issues. Since we have other children in the home, we cannot accept sexually reactive or aggressive children.

Introduction

Our names are Bethany and Christopher Glenn and we've been married 6 years.I am currently 33 years old. My husband is currently 40 years old. We have 3 kids-Will (5) is the born leader. Luke (3) is our comedian. Anna (1) is the easy going dancer. However, she's starting to have a lot of opinions these days. She wouldn't be a Glenn without them, I suppose!

I have a master's degree in counseling, but am currently a stay at home mom--and love it (most days). Before getting married I taught kindergarten and third grade in a private school. Sean is a co-owner at ERA Real Estate and has a very flexible schedule. He is very involved with the children.

We love taking weekend/week long trips to the beach, aquariums, and children's museums. The boys also like to play outside on their "tree house," walk in the creek, go to the park/splashpad, and watch movies. Extended family is very important and enjoy holiday dinners with them.

Home and Community

We live on the edge of Dandridge, a small historic Tennessee town. Before we were married, Sean built a home on two acres of his childhood farm, so our closest neighbors are cows! We live about 20 minutes away from Knoxville, Sevierville, and Morristown. All we need-health care, entertainment, shopping-are easily accessible. There are two community centers (one with a swimming pool), libraries, boys and girl clubs, dance lessons, etc. available in a very short drive.

Parenting Experience

Children have been a big part of my life for as long as I (Bethany) can imagine. I started babysitting when I was 12, volunteered as a nursery worker in high school, worked at several grief camps for kids, studied play therapy during my master degree, and taught kindergarten and third grade in a private school. Now I get the privilege to stay home to take care of my 3 kiddos.

Sean was the youth group leader at Shady Grove Methodist Church for 12 years. Now he is raising our three kids. He is very actively involved in there lives.

Support

We live in the country, on the edge of a historic small town called Dandridge. Our land is part of my in-laws cattle farm. A lot of our support system- Cindy (my sister in law), Michael (my brother in law), and my inlaws all live within 1 mile of us. Dandridge has a lot of fun evening activites such as an Irish Festival, Farmers ???? ???? ???? Market, Christmas Syphony, and evening concerts. We also have two community centers fairly close to us (one has a swimming pool that we ???? ???? ???? re very fond of), a couple of libraries with awesome kid programs.

Motivation to Adopt

We strongly feel that adoption is the way we are supposed to build our family. I have researched different support in our area to help us overcome the obstacles of adopting through foster care. There is an attachment therapist in Knoxville, Harmony adoption center that offers ASAP, and there's even a new pet therapy program starting up. I am familiar with seeking help and support when we need it.
