Family Description

We are hoping for a boy between 2 to 8 years old. We would welcome a mildly special needs child. Our child can be multi racial. White-Caucasian, Hispanic, Hawaiian or Alaskan. We live a healthy active lifestyle. We are Catholic but would appreciate and respect the childs relgionous beliefs even if not our own. It is the belief that is the important part of one's life. We enjoy the four seasons in Chicago. During the warm summer months boating is a big part of our lives and of course that includes a lot all swimming either in Lake Michigan or local pools. During colder months we enjoy biking and watching movies at home with Friday night being pizza night. We also attend alot of family partys all year long. I have one sister and Chuck has 2 sisters and 2 brothers. We have alot of nieces and nephews and are very close to our familys Chuck plays a musical instrument (piano). We do most activities together because have similar interest. Our child if interested will be offered musical lessons or any activity they show abilities in. I currently work full-time but have very flexible schedule. Chuck works full-time also for Wil Research company as a chemist . We both work very close to home therefore travel is minimal and I am home early afternoon everyday.

Preference Description

Children that have minimal special needs and have not had difficulty in previous placements.

The Kalensky Family Profile

Chuck and I have been married for 25 years and have been trying to create a family for such a long time. We are a very happy, loving and a financially secure couple. Chuck and I live in the north suburbs of Chicago and both of us grew up in the city. We are hoping for a Caucasion girl between 5 and 12 years old. We will keep our child connected to all family members with visits, phone calls also other social media. The child will be encouraged to continue all religious teachings they are connected with. We live in a nice, safe area that offers very good schools, a nearby park, bike trails, and a community swimming pool. We both enjoy swimming, and Chuck plays basketball, hockey, and most sports and is very athletic. Chuck is also musical and has enjoyed playing in a band for many years playing both keyboards and drums. I enjoy reading, movies and especially the Disney frozen movie as well as other Disney animated movies. I have been diagnosed with MS which has been stable for many years. I am currently working with a physical therapist directed by my doctor to improve my balance. I wake up feeling good every morning with lots of energy. We both live a very healthy, active lifestyle. We are Christian and church is a very important part of our life. Chuck and I have recently retired. Chuck worked as a scientist and has recently become a certified Master Captain through in the US Coast Guard. Chuck and I enjoy taking our nieces and nephews along with family and friends out on our boat in the summer. Between the both of us we have 3 sisters and 2 brothers with many nieces and nephews. Our family is very large and we are blessed to have all of them living nearby. They are all supportive of our decision to foster to adopt and will be available to offer assistance when needed. Thank you, Chuck &Diane

Daily Family Life

Our child if interested will be offered musical lessons or any activity they show an interest in.

Home and Community

We live in the State of Illinois. Our home is a single family home. We live in a Suburban neighborhood. We are good friends with our neighbors.

Some activities we would do with a child such as boating, swimming, board games and attending family parties. there is a community swimming pool and park only 2 blocks from our house. A child in our area may be interested in numerous outdoor activities such as biking and swimming. The schools in our area are known for education excellence. Some of the schools are more diverse than others. I would try to enroll in a scholl with a diverse population. My husband belongs to US coast guard license captain.

Parenting Experience

We both help out our brothers and sisters with a lot of babysitting. We have both taken PRIDE training classe along with other parenting classes online. One of these children has special needs.

Support

Chuck and I are both retired so we will care for our child. Our family is very supportive of our desire to bring a foster child into our lives. For any guidance needed we will use our family, church and neighbors for guidance.

Motivation to Adopt

We have been trying to have a child ever since we were married. We are financially stable and are a very loving couple. I know now through all the classes and research I have done that there are so children in need of a family. We are praying that we find our child so we can be a family.
