Family Description

April has a lot of babysitting experience. She also has some experience with special needs children had is when a student April has volunteered her non-class time in her Jr High School in the special aid classroom helping the students there with some things. April is a housewife and is a freelance artist. Her interests include: arts and crafts, painting, drawing, digital art, photography, reading, cooking, hiking, dancing, traveling, trying new things and video gaming. Paul does computer data scripting and testing. He enjoys reading, hiking, video gaming, traveling. We enjoy a variety of things we like to do together. We enjoy taking long walks and hikes together. We like to travel for examples Myrtle Beach, Niagara Falls, Disney world, Great Smoky Mountains, etc., besides traveling to see our family & friends that live further away from us. We enjoy video gaming, watching tv shows, and movies together. Our family and friends are very important to us. We like playing with our cat. We are also a nonsmoking family. Our home is a big 2 story single family house. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, big kitchen, living room, family room, dining room, and office. We have recently moved in late November 2017. Our neighborhood has a lot of kids.

Preference Description

We are looking to adopting a sibling group that consists of a girl with a boy sibling ages of 1-10 yrs old, of almost any ethnic background. We are willing to accept minor disabilities,no serious. Ok with cats.

Our preference.

We are hoping to adopt a boy with a girl sibling,We don't feel like race is an issue though we are not looking for a pure African-american but mixed is fine. We are looking for children ages 1- 10. We are looking for children that are ok to have around cats. Child that has no serious permanent disabilities. Looking for a kid that has some of our interests. We look forward to learning to know their interests as well. We are peanut eaters and a child allergic to peanuts might not be a good fit. If they are from a different ethnic culture than us we would study it and integrate it into our lives as well .

We will consider some previous connections if it is what the child wants via e-mail, letters, skype, and possibly phone calls.

We would like to adopt, however we are thinking of putting ourselves on hold until we move in late October when our new home is done being built. It will be in a nice small town with a low crime rate.

Our hobbies.

I am April. I am a housewife and I am freelance artist that works from home. My interests include: arts and crafts, painting, drawing, digital art, photography, reading, cooking, hiking, dancing, traveling, trying new things and video gaming. My husband Paul does computer data scripting and testing.

Our home and area.

We live in a north-west suburb of Chicago, IL in Lake County; as of November of 2017 we have moved to a better neighborhood and with better schools than our old home. Our home is a big 2 story single family house. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, nice sized kitchen, living room, family room, dining room, laundry room, and an office. For the most part it is open concept on the main floor. All of our bedrooms are on the 2nd floor as well as our full bathrooms. We have 2 of the bedrooms prepared so if we adopt 2 children each child would have their own room. Our neighborhood has a lot of kids and it has a small town feel. There is a small community park nearby. Within driving distance is Six flags, Dave and Busters, roller rink, and a horse riding place. We occasionally go to a christian church on Sundays. Our church also has a preschool and tons of other activity groups for children.

Experience with children.

I have a lot of babysitting experience. I have worked in a day care before. I do have some experience with special needs children, when I was a student in Jr High School I have volunteered non-class time in the special aid classroom helping the students there with some things. For example one of my friends in that room had down syndrome. Besides a few friends of mine growing up has autism. Paul has co-babysat with me for a friend of ours that have 2 elementary age girls and for his sister who adopted a little girl from China. We have P.R.I.D.E. training.

Support System

Our family and friends have already been prepared to accept what ever child or children we choose. They offer to us full support even though most of them live away from us. We will slowly show our friends and family to our soon to be child so that they will not get overwhelmed. Paul's sister has adopted and if we have any questions, she is willing to answer. A few of our friends have children, that told us if we have any questions we can ask them besides play dates. Our church has a great amount of supports for us as well for children. For us they have a group for adoptive parents. They offer counseling. They have a preschool and age appropriate youth groups. They offer all sorts of activity to bond over.

We will be committed.

We would be deeply committed. We don't give up easily. We will talk out any issues. We will help finding the right education for the child. We will find the right pediatric doctor. If we need counseling we will do so. We will have a lot of time getting to know each other.
