Preference Description

The Crowley Family Profile

We would like to adopt a child between the ages of 2 and 9 inclusive. We would like to adopt a boy. We feel we can accommodate a sibling group of up to 1 kids. We prefer to adopt a child of Caucasian or Asian ethnic background. We are open to children with special needs. We do not mind having contact with the child's biological parents (by email or by phone or by mail or in person ) provided the parent was/is not abusive to the child. We do not mind having continuing contact with the child's former foster parents, by email or by phone or by mail or in person . In general, Looking for a boy younger than our current 12 year old biological son who is active and loves to have fun. Whether it be playing games, sports, or relaxing to read a book or watch TV, we want to expand our family and make a forever house for a young boy.

Introduction

Our names are Michael and Jen Crowley. I am currently 43 years old and was born in Evergreen Park, IL. My partner is currently 42 years old and was born in Chicago, IL. We have one child. Our child's name is Michael Jr. and he is 12 years old. Like us, our child has a Caucasian ethnic background. Sports (baseball and basketball), coaching sports, seeing movies, and playing games with the family. Working out, reading, puzzles, and seeing movies. I work full-time for Walgreens Boots Alliance as a Corporate Manager and have a flexible work schedule. My partner is a stay-at-home parent and has a flexible work schedule.

Open, but not part of any specific church. Both parents grew up within the Catholic church.

All Chicago sports (Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, White Sox). Love taking our son to the newest age appropriate movies (Disney or otherwise). When we gather, we usually get together in our Living room to play games or watch TV. Supporting our son through school, playing games, watching TV. We take time to travel together as a family at least once or twice a year.

Home and Community

We live in the State of Illinois. Our home is a single family home. We live in a Suburban neighborhood not far from the city of Chicago. We are friends with our neighbors, many with elementary age children. We have one dog and one cat.

Same as our current biological child. Sports, games, other neighborhood entertainment. Park within 1 block, larger parks within a few blocks, downtown Downers Grove has many shopping and dining options. Playing sports (indoor and out). Downers Grove has great recreational sport leagues for children of all ages. Numerous parks to play in. Very strong with strong support for children with special needs (OT, Speech, etc). PTA (Jen), Coach of baseball and basketball(Mike)

Parenting Experience

Current parents of one 12 year old boy Strong role model, with strict but fair rules. Very caring. We have gone through many trials and tribulations with our current 10 year old boy. We have completed all of the necessary classes and more to become licensed foster parents. Both of us are very patient people that feel we can handle most anything thrown at us. Need to learn to split resources and attention that tends to go the way of our bio son. PRIDE (IL required for foster parents), Parenting classes (required by UCP Seguin), CPR and First Aid. All of it has prepared us to being in a non-biological child with problems that aren't what we are used to.

Support

The school provides counseling and there are many outside therapists available to us. Stay-at-home parent. Our son will be a key part of the adaptation into our house. Part of the reason we want a younger child is to be sure our son can be an "older brother" for a new boy. Medical and mental support through doctors. Additional support through counselors at school

Motivation to Adopt

We want to add to our family and help find a young boy a home for life that he has trouble finding in the past. We will: Do all that it takes to ensure a young child entering our home feels safe and do our best to make this place his forever home. All necessary time, money, and efforts will be expended to allow for a child to be part of our family. All of this shows we have what it takes to make a child happy and safe, and provide what is deserved, a family.
