Family Description

We would like to adopt a child who is less than 9 years old. We are open to boys or girls. We feel we can accommodate a sibling group of up to 3 kids. Almost any ethnic background will blend in with our family. We are open to children with many, many special needs. We do not mind having contact with the child\'s biological parents (by email or by phone or by mail or in person ) provided the parent was/is not abusive to the child. We do not mind having continuing contact with the child\'s former foster parents, by email or by phone or by mail or in person . In general, We hope to adopt a child that is comfortable with a loving, happy, caring family with dogs and cats... who will love and cherish them as our own.

Our life...

Our names are Paula and Andrew Smith. I am currently 44 years old. My husband is currently 42 years old. We have one child. Our child's name is Lucy Rose Smith and she is 6 years old. Like us, our child has a caucasian ethnic background. Paula- Enjoys Spending time with my daughter, gardening, exercise, bike riding, reading, volunteering in the community and working with an animal rescue organization. Andy- Being a father, sports, exercise, bike riding, community involvement. Lucy- Play, play, play!!! Loves doing any type of art or creative play. Paula is a stay-at-home parent and has a flexible schedule. My partner works full-time for Cornerstone Financial Partners as a Certified Financial Planner and has a flexible work schedule. We are Christians that attend church non-routinely....

We love The Panthers and NC state!!! We do not watch a lot of TV.... but, when we do its family oriented since our daughter is watching with us. We enjoy spending time together as a family watching movies, being with our dogs, going fishing, playing games, we love spending time outside in our yard.... that has a swing set, trampoline, swimming pool. We have a boat and very much enjoy spending time on the lake. We truly just enjoy family time!

Home and Community

We live in the State of North Carolina. Our home is a 6 bedroom single family home. We live in a Suburban neighborhood. We are friends with our neighbors. We have one or more dogs and one or more cats .

We do almost everything together!!! We live on a beautiful lake and own a boat. We love going boating, tubing, skiing and hanging out with other families with children that do the same. We love riding bikes, hosting playdates and attending playdates with friends. We stay very active and social as a family. Our neighborhood has a Yacht Club and a Country Club and we are members at both. These two clubs have weekly activities, camps, golf, swimming, tennis, etc for children of all ages. We also live in a town that offers many parks, art classes, and anything else you can imagine for kids. Our area has a large selection of public and private schools. Our daughter currently attends a private Christian school and any future children would attend there as well.

Parenting Experience

We currently have a 6 year old that we are parenting. We also spend a lot of time with our friends children, babysitting, etc. I also grew up babysitting and watching over my nieces and nephews. Our family is very close and we enjoy just being with each other. We are very balanced personally, socially and financially. We have a happy home! We have thought this through and have taken MAPP training, CPR and Shared Parenting Classes. We have also done countless hours of research and have talked this through to the fullest. We are prepared for any challenges that will occur and will handle them as if this child were our own. We are very committed people. MAPP, CPR, Shared Parenting.

Support

We have an abundance of doctors, therapist, etc. in our community. We have a strong network of close friends and family.

Motivation to Adopt

We always knew we wanted to adopt. We attempted to have biological children and have been blessed with one. I can no longer carry a child which has made adoption such a blessing for us!!! We cannot wait to welcome a child into our hearts and home and share our lives together!!
