Preference Description

Children we would like to adopt would generally be medically healthy, could be delayed in other areas, but would not require nurse visits to the home or parents to perform medical device cleanings, insertion, etc.

The Kennard Family

We wish to grow our family by way of adoption with a sibling group or single child under the age(s) of 8. We have no preference of race, after all we are all children of God. We will embrace each child as an individual and seek out what is best for him or her. We understand the connections that he or she has are important now and always will be. We desire to see each child thrive in the their life and we know that we are capable of helping them doing this as they grow.

Who We Are

Our names are Matthew and Dawn Kennard. We have a daughter, Summer, she is 11 years old.

Our family hobbies include bike riding, hiking/walking, swimming, playing outside, going places like the zoo and beaches. For Hobbies, Matthew is the lead guitarist in a Christian band, Dawn enjoys reading, and Summer enjoys spending time with her 4H rabbit and her pets (dog and cat). Dawn works as a Preschool Teacher. Matthew is a Supervisor at a lumber company.

Our spiritual beliefs are that of the Christian church. We believe in one God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), we attend church 1-3 times per week and are very active in our church's worship team, VBS, and volunteer efforts. We believe that we are not saved by works, but through faith yet serving others is what Christ called his people to do. We love all people, no matter the situation, for all have come short of the Glory of God and anyone can be delivered by our Great God if they call upon him and repent.

We enjoy local High School sports teams and we attend events within our community. We rarely watch TV or Movies, but we do enjoy family movie time on occasion. The musicians we like are of the Christian genre and we attend concerts held at churches, parks, and amphitheaters across Ohio! We spend a great deal of our time at home in family style. We sit together at meals, clean up together, and plan the activities for the evening together. We generally spend time together as we enjoy each other's company, but there is time alone for resting, reading, or quiet time. We have friends and family over often as we enjoy the fellowship and company of others.

Our Home Life

We live in rural Ohio, in a beautiful country setting on 2 acres with a lake. We are good friends with our neighbors and enjoy our quaint little neighborhood. We have a cat, Marvin; a dog, Lilo; and an outside rabbit, Sven.

The activities we will do as a family include any of the events our children are involved in. Outside of scheduled events or programs we will take time to meet the needs of our children with family time, down time, and any leisure activities we desire to do! The activities in our community that a child may participate in, include sports (per season), 4H club, fitness activities, park events, church programs and school programs. The schools in our area are filled with diversity and uniqueness! The school where Summer attends and Dawn works, is where any and all of our children will attend. It is a small Christian School that is a family/community environment. There are 50 families that attend the school and that accounts for around 70 students.

We Love Children

We have a lot of experience with children. We have an 11 year old daughter and many nieces and nephews! We have always participated in running our VBS at church and Dawn was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She is currently a Preschool teacher at a Preschool-8th grade school and does programs with each grade. Matt has been a coach for Summer's basketball team for a few years and also a flag football coach for a community team. We both enjoy children tremendously and know that with each experience we have, it makes us better people!

Extended Family and Friends

We have a huge support system within our family and friends. Our immediate families support our decision to foster/adopt. they will be the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins for these children and our extra hands! Our close friends are dear to us and they will continue to be around for fun outings, picnics, and vacations!

Our Commitment

We have committed ourselves to adoption and desire to be part of of a growing family that will nurture children and be with these young ones through their life experiences. We know that family is one of life's most precious gifts and we intend to do all we can for each of our children so that they may see this, experience this, and be the next generation of adults to embrace this.
