Preference Description

The general attributes would be that they were nice, caring, not violent towards animals, thoughtful, funny, polite, respectful, and engaging. We understand that foster kids have been through a lot and sometimes it takes longer to adjust to new places.

The White Family Profile

We would like to adopt a child who is less than 19 years old. We are open to boys or girls. We feel we can accommodate a sibling group of up to 4 kids. Almost any ethnic background will blend in with our family. We are open to children with many, many special needs. We do not mind having contact with the child\'s biological parents (by email or by phone or by mail or in person ) provided the parent was/is not abusive to the child. We do not mind having continuing contact with the child\'s former foster parents, by email or by phone or by mail or in person . In general, The general attributes would be that they were nice, caring, not violent towards animals, thoughtful, funny, polite, respectful, and engaging. Introduction

Our names are Tiffani and LeRoy White. I am currently 45 years old. My partner is currently 62 years old. We do not yet have any children We both like to travel, take photos, eat out, go shopping, go treasure hunting, watch movies/tv shows, play with computers, listen to music, read books/magazines, work jigsaw puzzles, and work out. I like to do crafts, yard work, and cook/bake. Doc likes to teach medical stuff to people he works with, play poker, fly airplanes, take extra classes to further his education( new skills to go along with his medical work) and do sudoku puzzles I am a stay-at-home parent and have a flexible work schedule. My partner works full-time for Chickasaw Indian Health Service as a Emergency Physician . We both grew up going to church. I went to Christian church and he went to Baptist and Christian churches. He went more time a week than I did. We both believe in Christ and that there is a Heaven and Hell.

I don't have a favorite sports team, I like too many of them. Doc doesn't watch sports. We both have a lots of different tv shows we like to watch. The Black List and Forever are two we both like. He watches more cartoons, science, and history shows than I do. I watch more drama, investigative shows, and true crime type of shows. We both like most of the same type of movies. He likes musicals and I don't like most musicals. As far as music he likes more crooners than I do. We both like Michael Buble and pop. I like most music except for opera. We both spend time cooking, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching movies/tv shows, and reading books/magazines. He studies or flies his simulator. I work on various craft projects.

Home and Community

We live in the State of Oklahoma. Our home is a single family home. We live in a City/Urban neighborhood. We are friends with our neighbors. We have one or more dogs .

Almost all the activities we do a child can do with us if they want to. Some of the activities are reading books/magazines, cooking, watching movies/tv shows, traveling, eating out, exercising, and taking photos. That is just a short list and doesn't include everything that can be done as a family. There are many activities to do. There are various sports activities. Almost any sport you can think of there is a team any child could play on. There are library programs to do. Miniature golf to play. Movies to go to. Various activities at the Air force base to do. Volunteer work with animals or at the hospitals to do. Just almost anything a child would want to do or be interested in can be done. We have both private and public schools. We don't have any children in our home to go into much detail but I can describe some. We have a grade school about half a mile away from the house. There is a waiting list for kids that want to go there not in this district. The two junior high schools seem to be very good student to teacher ratio. The high schools seem about the same as the junior high schools. The private schools are what you would expect a private school to be like.

Parenting Experience

Doc treats many children that come into the ER. We had a teenager living with us for a couple of years because her home life wasn't a good home life. I have babysat in my teenage years and worked for a daycare before opening my own DHS approved daycare. Our strengths are that we communicate with each other. We can always count on things getting taken care of by one or the other. We don't fight. We work as a team. We will handle any challenges that may come together. If we can't work out the challenge we will use the resources available in the community. For example it may be a spiritual problem, we would consult a pastor. A health issue, consult a specialist if doc didn't know what to do. Just a few examples. We attended the classes that teach you about adopting/fostering children. Doc is constantly doing medical training for his job.

Support

There are counselors for any type of abuse problems of just even if talking to someone outside the family would help. For trauma issues we would make use of an ER. If there were any type of situation or problem we have no problem with getting help anywhere we could. If it helps a child that would be all that mattered. Our sources of support consist of my parents, DHS support group(adoption agency), Hunter Christian church, other foster/adopt families, and teachers.

Motivation to Adopt

We want to adopt from foster care because there ARE so many kids out there who need a good and loving home. We feel we will be great parents. We could have our own children but with so many kids out there we think it would be better to adopt. Besides all children want is to know that there is someone out there who will love them no matter what. We feel that we can do that for them.
