WASHINGTON CHILD
I would like to introduce you to eleven year old Scotty, If you met him you would not forget him due to his kindhearted, funny and energetic personality. He is very much a people person. He is legally free and has been in foster care for a little over 3 years. Scotty has been waiting far too long for his forever family. He will need a healthy outlet for this energy. Scotty does not do well with change, and needs a schedule oriented family. He is very active in all sorts of sports. His favorite things are basketball, swimming, playing with friends and the Wii.
Current caregiver learned that Scotty needs time to cool off, consistent schedule, and that rewards work exceptionally well. Scotty has NOT been aggressive with other children, he has many friends at school and several that he plays with on a daily basis at his foster home.
The family should be active and organized with a predictable schedule. Kids or no kids, and preferably available for a long transition. Scotty will more than likely exhibit similar behaviors or worse than he did when initially being placed with current caregiver. If Scotty gets to know the family first (as a friend) then hopefully his anxiety will not be as bad, but the family should be prepared for the worst. Scotty is a charming kiddo that will at times be challenging, but he will more than likely melt your heart. He is definitely worth the extra work!
