With an electric smile and bashful eyes, 11-year old Luke has a great sense of humor and zest for life. Originally from Ethiopia, Luke has been living in the United States since 2010. He has maintained some of his cultural traditions but has also fallen in love with all things American. He is a kinetic child and tends to bond over physically active play. Whenever he gets the chance he loves to be outside and active; basketball, soccer, and skateboarding are some of his favorites. You’ll find Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber in his CD player and he’s been known to break out a few dance moves of his own. Although he has experienced some pretty severe trauma in his past, Luke is learning how to communicate his feelings and needs and be safe. With the right amount of structure, predictability and supervision, Luke can do very well. What he needs most right now are skilled, committed, nurturing foster or adoptive parents with no other children (or much older children)in the home who are willing to support his treatment goals and help him to thrive during his teenage years. Helping Luke succeed is not only good for him, but incredibly rewarding for you.
Luke will need to maintain regular in person contact with connections in the Portland area. Families in the Portland area will see Luke thrive as a great kid!
