Gabby is a sweet 15 year old girl with a beautiful heart. She goes by the nickname “Gabster” at her current group home. Gabby is artistic and loves doing arts and crafts. She enjoys cooking, watching movies, playing video games, swimming and participating in Equine Therapy. Gabby also likes spending time outdoors playing sports. Gabby is described as an honest and helpful teen who enjoys being with others. Gabby describes herself as a “funny” person who likes to play. Her favorite food is ravioli and she loves chocolate ice cream.
Gabby has experienced significant trauma in her young life and struggles with issues of grief and loss. She has had multiple moves in foster care and experienced abuse in both her birth home and in foster care. Gabby biggest struggle involves interpersonal boundaries. She is eager to please and will share personal information with strangers leaving herself vulnerable. Gabby also need help understanding physical and emotional boundaries and tends to develop fixations on certain people she likes. Gabby has been making progress in this area since moving into her current group home in November last year.
Gabby is going into 10th grade and is on an IEP for academic and behavioral needs. Gabby enjoys school and would love to continue at her current school. Gabby receives a combination of medication management and therapy to address her behavioral and emotional needs.
Gabby will do best in a home with older peers and no male caregivers. Gabby’s family will benefit from understanding the impact of abuse and neglect on a child’s emotional and cognitive development. Gabby needs a family willing to love her unconditionally and provide her with opportunities for growth. Her family will need to model appropriate boundaries and provide a structured loving home that will help her be successful. Gabby has close connections with her younger brother who resides in an adoptive home in Tacoma as well as her great grandmother in Eastern WA. Her adoptive family will need to be willing to help Gabby maintain these important connections.
Gabby reports she’s looking for a family that might help her maintain her relationship with her great grandmother who has been a wonderful source of support for her but is unable to be a placement option. Gabby would like a family with pets such as dogs, cats or fish. Gabby is going into 10th grade and is on an IEP for academic and behavioral needs.
