Hero for a Day 2019

Thank You!

This year over 150 heroes enjoyed many stations and each one brought a unique and fun activity. The kids did crafts, watched a magic show, assisted in a surgical “operation”, visited with therapy dogs & donkeys, sat in fire trucks, tried on SWAT gear and so much more!

Thank you!

Our first Virtual Hero for a Day was a great success and couldn't have been done without the help of many of our community members and supporters. Over 50 children and their families tuned into the Zoom webinar and we saw presentations for over 20 different community supporters.

Stay tuned to this page for an official event wrap up and listing of all of our sponsors, volunteers, donors, and supports of this year's event.

UPDATE (5/13)

Due to the unprecedented nature of COVID-19 and the updated state guidelines for crowd sizes, we have decided to turn Hero for a Day into a virtual event. We take our community measures very seriously and would never cancel or postpone an event unless absolutely necessary. We understand the inconvenience this may cause. We hope our foster community and overall local population will feel rest assured we are doing everything in our power to secure this event, as it means so much to who we are as an organization. Please join us online on July 11th on Zoom and help us make this a successful first virtual event.

Calling All Heroes!

This event allows foster children and community children alike to be transformed into the heroes we know them to be.  Hero For A Day is for children ages 2 to 18 and is a day filled with tons of fun activities designed to create an educational and fun experience for all of our heroes while we raise awareness about our foster care system and the children in it waiting for their forever families. Through Zoom, you and your child will get to see your favorite superheroes, and the local heroes we see saving lives everyday.

We want to also use this event as an opportunity for our community to thank our local first responders and frontline essential members during this health crisis. Without them, we would not be able to hold this event and continue serving our foster community.

This event is free, but we do ask you to register before the event if you can. Each registration comes with the opportunity to come and pick up a Hero Kit from our office to utilize during the event. If you live out of town and want a kit, we can ship one to you (just pay the cost of shipping). Email events@afamilyforeverychild.org to inquire about your Kit.

We will contact each registrant individually with details and to give you the Zoom code to log in before it starts.

Contact us at events@afamilyforeverychild.org with any questions, comments, or concerns!

Sponsor Hero for a Day

On behalf of A Family for Every Child we would like to invite you to partner with us for our 7th annual “Hero for a Day” event, supporting foster children in search of their forever families.  Hero for a Day is an opportunity for children to be transformed in to Heroes and spend time with heroes from our community, and those from the pages of their favorite comic books. This year's event will be a special Virtual Edition using Zoom, and a brand new opportunity to showcase you and your business!

Children who attend meet firefighters, police, and real soldiers. Professionals from around the community, including doctors, dog trainers, dentists and more, come to show the kids what they do, and offer insights for children into what they can be when they grow up. Kids and their families will get to talk with local first responders around our community, learn how to draw themselves in Hero form, meet their favorite superheroes and hear stories about saving the day, all from the comforts of their home. Hero for a Day helps further our mission by raising awareness about foster care in Oregon. We believe that this year’s Hero for a Day will be a new opportunity to explore the great tools we have at our fingertips and adapt to the everchanging climate we are in.
