Tomorrow is a day we celebrate our nation’s independence from Great Britain.  It is the day set aside to honor our freedom.  It will be filled with parades, barbeques, fireworks and family.

We will celebrate the fact that we live in the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”

Our hope and prayer here at A Family For Every Child is that tomorrow as we gather to celebrate let us not forget those who are not free.  Let us remember those who live each day stuck in a system designed to protect them, but all too often fails them.  Let us remember those who are not home, but are spending this holiday on foreign soil fighting to protect the very freedom that we celebrate.

We should all join together in celebration with ice cream, cheeseburgers, lemonade and sparklers; but as we enjoy the day say a prayer for the one’s still left behind.  May we remember the words of the declaration that we honor, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (www.archives.gov).

In the words of Maya Angelou, “The truth is, no one of us can be free until everybody is free.”
