One Last Summer Hurrah

Family Summer 2014.

As Labor Day Weekend approaches, the leaves are slowly beginning to change to vibrant reds, yellows, oranges, and the long summer nights are transforming into crisp fall nights.

Although the first day of school is just around the corner, the time for one last summer hurrah is now!

Try one idea or be bold and try every item from this ultimate list of last summer hurrah activities:

1.) Volunteer Together

See if the local homeless shelter needs volunteers to serve food, walk dogs at the animal shelter, bake cookies for a nursing home, the possibilities are endless!

3.) Have a Backyard Campout

Who says you have to pack up the car and drive to a campground for the outdoor experience? Grab the tent, sleeping bags, and marshmallows and head to backyard for a cozy campout!

4.) Plan a Day Trip

With so many options for nearby hikes, along with the metropolitan experience of Portland and the delicious seafood of the Oregon Coast just a few hours away, the valley makes it easy to plan spectacular family day trips!

Pack a picnic lunch and head for a gorgeous hike to the Tamolitch Blue Pool, just miles outside of McKenzie River. Check out the tourist attractions of Portland like the Oregon Zoo, Japanese Gardens, and end the day with a scoop at Salt & Straw.

5.) Family Favorites Day

Each family member chooses their favorite activity of the summer to create a fun-filled day that caters to everyone. Maybe the choice of dinner is hamburgers on the grill, followed by watching a favorite movie, and finishing with playing a board game. The choices are up to you!
