Family Description

Dear Birth Mom/Family, Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us. We hope to adopt an infant or young girl with Down syndrome. (We can also adopt a sibling group with 2 children in the group.) We have a loving and nurturing home as well as experience raising a girl with Down syndrome. We have a 5 year old daughter with Down syndrome (DS). Family is very important to us, and we set aside at least one night a week to play, talk and reconnect with one another. We enjoy making time for each other to go on a date now and then. It helps us stay close as a couple and have renewed energy for each other and our children. Told by Heidi: Joseph has a very patient and fun loving personality. He works as a chiropractor and is on his feet all day helping others feel good. When he gets home at night the children run to the door to get hugs, and they want to know if he brought them a new library book to read. Joseph is cheerful and has energy for the family even after a long day of work. Later when pajamas are on and bedtime routine is complete, it is wrestle Dad time. You should see it. It gets crazy. Some of Joseph's strengths are: he is non-confrontational, smart, honest, kind, considerate, hardworking, funny, creative and 98% of the time willing to let the children help him with some task around the house. (There was that one that time he snuck out the bedroom window to finish a task unaided by one of the children.) Joseph is cheerful, even in the mornings. He enjoys tennis, loves volleyball, hikes, reading a book, and playing chess. Told by Joseph: Heidi is a stay-at-home Mom and loves it! She loves her children immensely and sacrifices a ton for their welfare. She is creative and sharp on her toes on how to deal with what life and the children toss at her. Heidi enjoys and is good at cooking, canning, gardening, and sewing. She wants to finish her Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science Education. Heidi also enjoys hiking, bike rides, walking, puddle stomping with the children, and planting flowers. She enjoys volunteering in her children's school classroom and developmental preschool. We have three older children that are either off to college or married and living on their own. They have expressed their desire to assist in caring for their younger sisters with Down syndrome if the time should ever occur. We also have three younger children. Two boys ages 7 and 3 years old. We also have a 5 year old daughter that has Down syndrome. The children are all healthy, busy and enjoy being on the go. We enjoy doing activities together either one-on-one or as a family, such as, cooking, playing, riding bikes, reading books, family movie night, etc.

Preference Description

We have a daughter with Down syndrome, and we would love to adopt a girl with Down syndrome between the ages of newborn to 5 years old. We would also welcome a twin situation or a brother/sister that would make up a sibling group.
