I know what you are thinking…AFFEC has a blog? Yes we do! It has been a while, but we are back now and it is gonna be great. What is this blog about you might ask. Well friends, it is gonna be anything and everything AFFEC. Heart Gallery, Events, Adoption and Mentor, you will find it here. So stay tuned for all the great things to come!
To start off the blogging, I want to share our upcoming events. There is a lot of stuff coming up and we are stoked!
First off we have the 2nd Annual Blues Benefit! Come down to Mac’s Restaurant and Night Club on April 15th to hear First Press, Lisa Mann, Howlin Dogma, Jerry Zybach, Joanne Broh & Friends and the Hank Shreve Band. Tickets are available on our website for $20 or at the door for $25. Mac’s is creating a special drink just for us, so boogie on down!
Next up, the Eugene Marathon. We are once again partnering with the Run for Charity program to raise money for AFFEC. Runners sign up and fundraise for us and they run for free! I will be there Saturday April 28th from 8:45 am to 6:30 pm so run on over and say hi.
Do you love wings? Do you love supporting your favorite charity (AFFEC of course)? Then do I have the perfect thing for you! On May 10th Hot Mama’s Wings is holding a fundraiser for us and 15% of all proceeds all day go to supporting AFFEC. Bring the family and bring your friends to Hot Mama’s Wings. And of course Hero for a Day! We are blasting off on June 2nd from 12 to 3 pm at the Bob Keefer Center in Springfield. This event is all about teaching children that they can be heroes when they grow up! Our Heroes will meet real heroes from the community. Register your hero today so they do not miss this incredible event! We are also looking for donations of costumes, capes, masks, hats and anything else hero related! For our friends near Oregon City, the Oregon City Brewery is holding a mini fundraiser for AFFEC on June 12th. They will give $1 for every beverage purchased!
Next! Now this one is pretty cool, it is the first ever Big Wheel Rally in Eugene! Not only is this a crazy cool event, but it is also a benefit for AFFEC! The Rally is happening July 28th and 29th here in Eugene. For those of you over 21 the 28th will feature a pub crawl. And for all those under 21, join us on the 29th for the races! Lastly, but certainly not least, the 2nd Annual Heart of Country. This year we are taking it to a whole new level. Not only will it feature great local country bands, it will be a BBQ cook off! Live music and great food…what could be better? We are still in the planning phase, but stay tuned for more info!
