Roundup App

ROUNDUP APP is a service that connects you to participating nonprofit organizations nationwide and allows you to “Round Up” purchases made with your debit or credit card and donates the difference to your preferred nonprofit.  For Example:  If you purchased a coffee with your debit or credit card for the amount of $1.95, your purchase would be rounded up to $2.00 and 5¢ will be donated to your chosen nonprofit.  Sign Up TODAY and choose A Family for Every Child as your preferred organization and your spare change could change the life of a foster child in need of a forever family

Donate for Charity creates and manages donation programs that enable donors to make a significant contribution to their favorite nonprofit through an easy process, guided by experts in the auto donation industry.

Why donate your vehicle?

Your car donation directly benefits A Family For Every Child. Donate For Charity distributes the funds raised from the sale of your vehicle donation directly to AFFEC to help maintain and expand our efforts and programs.

The IRS allows vehicle donors to receive a tax deduction on their vehicles. Donate for Charity is also a convenient way to get rid of unwanted vehicles while helping a great cause.

How to Donate

  1. Complete the form on Donate for Charity's Website or call 866-392-4483 to start the donation process.
  2. Your vehicle will be picked up within 3 days. After the vehicle is auctioned off or purchased by a salvage company for parts, you will receive your receipt necessary for a tax deduction.
  3. A Family For Every Child will then receive the funds from your car donation!

Partnering for success

A Family for Every Child’s mentoring program is essential to helping foster youth make school and life transitions at critical stages in their development. OCF strongly supports enhancing this important program, ensuring positive, successful mentoring experiences for an estimated 60 middle and high school students throughout Lane County. -Kathleen Cornett, Vice President of Grants & Programs, Oregon Community Foundation

A Family For Every Child’s (AFFEC) mentor program is expanding its reach by connecting with children’s schools in order to help them perform better academically and remain on track to graduate. With support from the Oregon Community Foundation AFFEC has brought on a new team member who is charged with conducting school-based community outreach, connecting with children’s school counselors, and supporting our mentors in their mentee’s academic life. This will allow AFFEC to help children and teens see greater academic success, and feel more supported by caring adults in their lives. Currently a little more than half of foster youth obtain a high school diploma due to difficulties when transitioning from home to home, and mentors have the potential to ease those transitions with schools and other institutions. Thanks to the Oregon Community Foundation, AFFEC will now be supporting mentors and youth to help ensure children not only receive their diploma but exceed academic expectations. Our new Education Liaison is Mary Bromley, Mary has been an AFFEC mentor for over five years. She is the only consistent person in the life of her mentee. Mary also recently retired from the school district and will begin working with us on our Education/Mentor/Mentee Program as an Education Liaison.

In addition to providing more academic support, AFFEC is launching a Mentor Assisted Life Skills Program which will pair mentors with youth who will work on developing life skills together. Mentors and mentees will be offered a curriculum that includes information on how to handle one’s finances, healthcare, cooking, and more. This program will better prepare children who are at risk of “aging out” of foster care for living on their own. These classes in conjunction with the mentors’ support will aid in the success of each child becoming a self-sufficient adult! Our new Life skills effort is lead by our new team Member,Christina Sutton

Christina comes with a long history of connection to AFFEC. In the very early days she ran our Mentor Program, and then she took a break to foster and adopt many children. While she still has a house full, she is getting involved again to help us build our education classes for youth at risk of aging out of care and those who will become adults with little preparation for the real world. She will plan and teach bi-weekly classes on everything from “How to write a check” to “How to shop for food” to college, trade-school knowledge, and resume-building. Christina grew up in foster care and never got a family of her own, so her passion for at-risk youth is huge and based in real-life experience. In Kind Donations

We need a large variety of items that help our programs to be successful. These items range from office supplies and furniture to gift certificates at local businesses. Please take a moment to read through our wish list below and see if you can help!

Gift Cards & Coupons

We are in need of gift cards/coupons to local and national businesses that our mentors can use when spending time with a child. This helps to offset the cost involved for the many mentors who donate large portions of their time and money to be involved in the lives of these children. Additionally, we have a small army of volunteers who work tirelessly to create/update the website, family matching assistance programs, heart gallery, training, data input, etc. and it goes a long ways to show our appreciation to them once in a while with a lunch or dinner.

So, gift cards/coupons to coffee houses, restuarants, laser tag, paintball, bowling, golfing, etc.

Books / Games

Many of the children that are adopted are through A Family For Every Child are above toddler age and many of the parents are first time parents. To help with this new experience, we are looking for books and games that can be given to families and the children to start things off right.

Photo Processing

We have amazing photographers that take beautiful photographs of Heart Gallery children. We have a need for photo printing services. Photos need to be printed in various sizes.

Whether we need invitations, banners or letterhead we are always looking for donations of printed materials.

Venues

We have a need for Lane County venues that would like to display the Heart Gallery Portrait Exhibit. We are looking for faith based organizations to open doors and hearts for us so that we may use their facilities to display our exhibits.

Rental of tables, chairs, linens, etc.

Every November we put on our annual opening event that celebrates National Adoption month and gives us a chance to showcase the Heart Gallery in a different way. Last year we had over 300 people attend the event. Any equipment donations or loans would be greatly appreciated.

Flowers

Every November we put on our annual opening event that celebrates National Adoption Month. We would love to have flowers to help decorate the venue.

Advertising

We would appreciate your expertise or donation of a service. We are looking for videographers and creative minds to help us come up with marketing ideas.

Grant Writer

Grants are one way that many successful non-profits survive. Grants could help fund equipment purchases, provide clothing for the Inside/Out program and much more.

Heart Gallery Christmas Coordinator

Some families need assistance so that their children can have a wonderful holiday. Some just need assistance with Christmas presents, but some need much more. Heart Gallery helps find sponsors for foster families. The sky is the limit on what your imagination can do to make the Heart Gallery Christmas a success.

General Help

If you feel you want to help, but do not feel like you have the time to do any of the jobs listed above, we can always use your talent and smiling face! Any amount of time that you spend helps children find loving homes and continued support. We have many events that will be better with you there.
