Family Description
We are a family of two, a single momma and her adoptive son. I fostered for 5-6 years, fostered to adopt my son, have completed years of requirements in training to maintain my foster certification. In the process of working on a second adoption, I have closed my fostering certification, to focus on expanding our family. My son has had 5 foster siblings in his life, and has learned and done well with each one. We are excited for this adoption and cannot wait to get moving forward with a placement. We are optimistic to find a kiddo who will match well into our family with their needs and ours.
Preference Description
I am open to any gender, any sibling group and most ages. Any needs need to be moderate or less due to our living situation (farm life) and our lifestyle. I am open to ADHD, Mild to Moderate Autism, PTSD, Anxiety, Speech Delay, hearing impaired etc...
The Weishaar- Family Profile
We are open to most ages, any gender, any race and single or sibling sets. Adam and I have had numerous kiddos fostered in our home, including Adam, and so we know that as long as the kiddos needs fit well with our family, it will work great! We are very outdoorsy. We love camping, hiking, riding, fishing, and just being outside most of the time.
Introduction
Our life looks very different than most. We are a farm family, so that includes lots of animals and the chores that come with them. It also means we get to enjoy those animals, and enjoy the outdoors. Camping is a big piece of our year, as is riding our horses, and pretty much any outdoor activity.
Home and Community
We live in a single level ranch home with a huge fenced yard and a huge garden. We have 2 barns and an indoor arena, 30+ horses, 5 cats, 2 dogs and a lot of chickens, ducks and a goose.
Parenting Experience
I have been a foster momma since 2016 and have fostered 6 kiddos in the past 5 years. Adam was adopted from foster care, and I was his only placement while in care. I have done the required hours to maintain my certification, and also have many friends who have adopted or fostered and we are a village.
Support
I have numerous friends who are experienced with Trauma and fostering/adoption, as well as family that live close by and are very supportive. My son never wants for a village. We also have my parents and my sister and her husband who live locally and fully supportive.
Motivation to Adopt
I have wanted to adopt since I was 12 years old. I have never really wanted biological children, for no other reason than I love adoption. Adoption is the only way my family will grow, and we have had our fair share of challenges and kiddos running around with different needs and trauma's.
