Family Description
Meet the Burdick Family! We are a Christian family who enjoy our downtime and adventures. We have two daughters who love to read and dance. We have a huge family we enjoy spending time with. We like camping and taking our two dogs to the beach. Both parents grew up in big families and we would love to grow our family.
Preference Description
We are looking for a boy or girls ages 5 to 15 or a sibling group of 2-3 of any race and ethnicity. We are willing to accept mild to moderate physical and mental disabilities.
The Burdick Family Profile
We would love a single or sibling group ages 5-15, boys or girls of any race. Our family talks about and embraces how our differences make each of us unique. We want to encourage and support each child's previous connections, while building new family bonds to last a lifetime.
Introduction
Our family enjoys church services and activities throughout the week. Homemade pizza and movie/game night is something we all look forward to. We enjoy mellow weekends at home in the backyard, with hammocks, swings, and a trampoline. Other times we go on adventures at the beach or on hikes in the area. We spend time together as a family and with extended family, as relationships are important to us. We also like Legos, family trips, walks with our pups, reading separately and together, card/board games, camping, baking, snuggling with a movie, video games, and dancing.
Home and Community
We live in a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom 2 story home on the outskirts of a small coastal town. Located in a valley, we have rivers, mountains and the beach all close by for outdoor activities. There is a variety of schools and parks.
Parenting Experience
We have two biological daughters ages 13 and 9. We have also hosted a foreign exchange student who is 16, and we were foster parents for several years caring for infants to teens. Marlie-Jo taught preschool and had a daycare for newborn through 10 years of age. She currently teaches grades 1-12 at the small private school where our girls attend. We have numerous nieces and nephews who also visit our home. Both Dustin and Marlie-Jo has completed several trauma-informed parenting classes. We have completed many other classes and continue to add to our education.
Support
Both Dustin and Marlie-Jo have large families, most who live in the same area. From Grandparents to aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends, everyone is excited to welcome our new children into the family. Our church family also provides services to support children in our hometown.
Motivation to Adopt
Families were designed by God to be together forever on this earth. Challenges for everyone bring us closer to God and each other as we lean on one another for support. Our family believes in helping each of us become the best person we can be; always growing and learning, even as adults. Laughter, smiles, and fun are essential, along with expectations, responsibilities, and challenges to grow.
