About Royalty for a Day
Here ye, here ye, calling all dragons, princes, and princesses to the annual Royalty for a Day event.
Previously called Princess for a Day, children and youth attending this magical event are transformed with the “royal treatment” including hair, mails, makeup, costume, and accessories before taking a walk down the red carpet, participating in a photo shoot, attending a royal ball and tea party, and letting loose with arts and crafts, STEM activities, an inflatable obstacle course, and so much more.
A Family for Every Child wants all children to have the opportunity to attend this transformative event and offers free admission for foster youth and scholarship opportunities for low-income families. General admission community tickets are $50 per child and are purchased in advance through our website. Everyone is welcome!
Some things to keep in mind:
- Event registration includes an arrival time to ensure wait times are kept to a minimum. Please plan to arrive during the time selected at registration.
- All children and youth attending Royalty for a Day must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
- Due to limited space, we can only accommodate one chaperone per child, please plan accordingly.
Foster Youth Registration
To register a foster youth for free, email the youth’s name and their caseworker’s name to events@affec.org. Our event coordinator will forward you a unique coupon code to use while registering on our website.
Scholarship Application
Limited scholarships are available on a first come, first serve basis. To apply for a scholarship, email events@affec.org to inquire about availability.

Our largest need right now includes dresses in child sizes 5 - 10.
Donations can be made at our office anytime Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this event only for foster children?
Everyone is welcome! While this event is free for children who are currently in foster care, tickets are open to everyone in the community through our registration process.
Is this event only for girls?
No way! We believe children and youth of all genders, ages, and backgrounds are royalty and can’t want to pamper your child with the costume and accessories of their choice including a princess dress and tiara, prince cape and crown, or even a dragon costume.
Can I drop my kids off at the event and pick them up afterwards?
Unfortunately, no. All children and youth must always have an adult chaperone on site with them.
What time is the event? Can I show up at any time during the event? How long does it last?
Event registration includes an arrival time to ensure wait times and lines are kept to a minimum. Please plan to arrive and check in during the time selected. The event will take approximately one and a half to two hours to complete depending on your child’s pace.
Do we need to bring anything? Does my child need to come in a dress/costume?
All costumes and supplies, apart from shoes, are provided by the event and can be taken home at the end of the event. Princesses are encouraged to wear shorts and a tank top under their street clothes, to easily slip their dress over. Princes and Dragons are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes to put a cape over.
Are walk-ins allowed?
Limited walk-ins may be available. Pre-registration is highly recommended to ensure all attendees have the best experience possible. Tickets are available on a first come first served basis and we typically sell out early each year.
My child would love this event, but we can't afford it right now. Are there scholarships available?
Yes! Generous sponsors and donors make it possible for us to offer income-based scholarships for event attendance. Limited scholarships are available. Please reach out to events@affec.org to inquire.
