The McCall-Kollasch Family Profile

We would like to adopt a child between the ages of 2 and 7 inclusive. We are open to boys or girls. We feel we can accommodate a sibling group of up to 2 kids. Almost any ethnic background will blend in with our family. We are open to children with many, many special needs. We do not mind having contact with the child\'s biological parents (by email or by phone or by mail or in person ) provided the parent was/is not abusive to the child. We do not mind having continuing contact with the child\'s former foster parents, by email or by phone or by mail . In general, We are looking for a child who fits in our family and with our current 8-year-old son. Our minds are open due to our desire to find our child for who he (or she) is. Parenting Experience

We have completed over 30 hours of training through our agency. We also have a high spirited child currently. We have learned to give him ample time to transition from activity to activity, in addition to giving him calm explanations when plans change or scenery is about to change. We have learned to listen to the queues of our child. We are patient. We pride and encourage communication and have weekly feeling/emotion check talks. We also do most things and outings as a family. We are very close and supportive of one another. We will handle the challenges one day at a time. I believe speaking with the foster parents and case worker will provide a solid foundation of our child's needs. In addition, we both understand the benefits of counseling and are willing to go as a family. We are open to learning as we go and anticipate hurdles will be jumped along the way. We have had 30 ours of training through our agency. In addition, we have accumulated several books since we began this process. It is our anticipation, once we learn more about our child we will search for other relevant books to add to our shelves and expand our knowledge.
