Preference Description

We would love the opportunity to adopt a child who we would be raised with the comforts of a safe, encouraging and loving environment. He or She will be welcomed with open arms from so many family, friends and especially from Myself, Paul and Emma.

The Darosa Family Profile

We would like to adopt a child who is less than 8 years old. We would like to adopt either a boy or a girl. We feel we can accommodate a sibling group of up to 1 kids. Almost any ethnic background will blend in with our family. We are open to children with many, many special needs. We do not mind having contact with the child\'s biological parents (by email or by phone or by mail ) provided the parent was/is not abusive to the child. We do not mind having continuing contact with the child\'s former foster parents, by email or by phone or by mail . In general, We would love the opportunity to adopt a child who we would be raised with the comforts of a safe, encouraging and loving environment. He or She will be welcomed with open arms from so many family, friends and especially from Myself, Paul and Emma.

Introduction

Our names are Kim and Paul Darosa. I am currently 41 years old. My partner is currently 42 years old. We have one child. Our child's name is Emma Darosa and he/she is 8 years old. Like us, our child has a caucasian ethnic background. In Paul's spare time he adores sports and can be found watching his favourite football team the "Steelers". In my spare time I enjoy the gym, movies, and spending time with family and friends. I love making cakes and scrap books. Our daughter Emma has chosen hockey in her free time and her Dad loves to coach her! Emma tried a lot of activities before picking hockey as her favourite such as dancing, diving, soccer and swimming. We feel it is important for kids to pick activities that they love to do even if it takes a few different tries. By having a pool in our backyard, we have taught Emma how to swim and any child we adopt we will teach them as well. I work full-time for North Shore Laser Clinic as a Registered Nurse/Business Owner and have a flexible work schedule. My partner works full-time for Viterra as a Millwright and has a flexible work schedule. We are Roman Catholic and attend church on occasions and holidays.

Paul and Emma adore watching hockey together. We all love watching movies and playing board games. We love spending quality time with our daughter and two dogs Bettis and Jerome. They are sweet dogs who you can't help to fall in love with. Great with children and non shedding.

Home and Community

We live in the Thunder Bay Ontario Canada. Our home is a single family home. We live in a City/Urban neighborhood. We are good friends with our neighbors. We have one or more dogs .

We are very lucky to have many family members and friends. On weekends we often get together for dinners. Every holiday we plan events togethers for example Christmas, Thanksgiving, Birthdays etc. Living in North Western Ontario, the winters can be very cold; so we try and book a warm vacation every year. We have taken Emma to some wonderful places, Punta Cana, Jamaica, Mexico, Disney World Orlando and on a Cruise. There are many more places we would love to visit. We live in a neighbourhood with many young children. In the summer time, we have an in ground swimming pool and spend a lot of time enjoying that. In the summer time, you will always see kids bike riding or heading to the park near by. Our winters are great for skiing, skating, and sliding. We have a variety of schools in our neighbourhoods. Our daughter attends a catholic french immersion school that she thrives in.

Parenting Experience

We have raised our 8 year old daughter in a loving environment she appears to be thriving either in school and with friends. She has a very balanced normal upbring. We hope to be able to adopt a child to give that child the same consistent care, and opportunity. We are a very loving family with boundaries, structure and normalcy. We believe in good communication within our family. We do not believe in strict discipline. We have been able to discuss outcomes of behaviours and work through issues by discussing them. We think if we adopt from a child that has been in foster care. The foster parents can be very beneficial to an easy transition. If they have a good relationship with the child they can help us to make it easier for the child to adjust to his or her new living environment. We have completed our pride training that is mandatory to take in the province in Ontario for adoption or foster care.

Support

We have many resources to help us in our community if certain issues need to be addressed. We were born and raised in Thunder Bay we have a variety of professional friends with connections to resources if we need them with an adopted child. Probably the hugest support in our lives are my parents. (Emma's grandparents)". They are the "root" of our family foundation and we are so lucky to have them. You will never meet more honest and trustworthy people than these two. We spend lot of time with them on holidays and weekends!

Motivation to Adopt

We would raise any child with the comforts of a safe, encouraging and loving environment. He or She will be welcomed with open arms from so many family, friends and be given so many wonderful opportunities! Thank you for reading our profile and considering us for this amazing next step in our future.
